MUTILATION RITES Confirms New Bassist

The Brooklyn-based black/doom/crust metal quartet MUTILATION RITES will release their Prosthetic debut, "Empyrean," on May 22. The album was recorded at Developing Nations in Baltimore, MD with Kevin Bernsten (Triac). More information about the release will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Tonight in Buffalo, the group kicks off a three-week tour highlighted by several high-profile performances at SXSW, a Dallas gig alongside Alcest and a half-dozen shows with Hull. This marks MUTILATION RITES' first tour with new bassist Ryan Jones (Today Is The Day, Wetnurse). A complete list of tour dates appears below.

MUTILATION RITES describe themselves as a "filthy black metal band" influenced by such acts as Darkthrone, Discharge and Dissection. Founded by Justin Ennis (drums, ex-Tombs) and Michael Dimmitt (guitars) in 2009, the group has established a grass-roots following via several underground tours and a split 7" with Batillus that was released last year.
