PSYCROPTIC Discuss New Album And Tour Plans
In a recent interview with The Gauntlet, drummer Dave Haley discussed the band's recording and touring options. "We don't really sit down and write an album per say" stated Haley. "We just never stopped writing after we put out Ob(Servant). We just keep chipping away. We had about four or five complete songs when we booked some studio time. This just gave us a lot of time to really work on writing the songs and not be so rushed with it. The majority of the songs were done in 2010 after Ob(servant). We are already writing songs for the next album in a little while. That is what we have always done. Since we don’t live off the band we aren’t under any pressure to go in and write an album in a month. The creative process with us seems to be always on. Sometimes are slower than others but for the most part, it just continues."
As for possible return visit to the U.S., Haley stated "We are heading out to Europe soon. Everything needs to be right for us as none of us can lose our jobs or our house. But hopefully later this year we will be able to tour the U.S. Touring the U.S. can be financially devastating to a band of our size. Before we even set foot in the country, we have about $10,000 in airline flights. Then we have to pay for visas which are another $4,000. We need a van, equipment, etc. We can easily be out $25,000 before we even play a show. That is the yearly income of some people. It is pretty challenging. If there is some rich dude out there that wants to gives us a wad of cash, that would be great. Touring is something we love doing though."
Psycroptic released "The Inherited Repression" on February 7th via Nuclear Blast Records.
