Metallica and Lou Reed Ensure No One Will Illegally Download New Album
I think Metallica finally found the secret to prevent illegal downloading. After hearing the full track tonight, I not only won't buy the album, but I won't even waste the bandwidth or drive space to pirate it. The bad idea that saw Lou Reed and Metallica collaborate in the studio has released its first full song online. Maybe the idea sounded good on paper, but their need to be some controls. Are Metallica so powerful that even the producer can't tell Lars and James "hey guys, this isn't working out the way we thought it would." Not only is Lou Reeds vocals not matching the dull guitar playing, but Kirk Hammett has a weird solo near the end as well. And we can't overlook the lyrical genius that came up with the line "I am a table, I am the ten stories, I am the table, I am, I am, I am, I aaaaaammmmmmm!"
The song will be available as a single on September 27, 2011 via iTunes. The full "Lulu" LP is available on November 1, 2011.
