Johan Lindstrand of THE CROWN "I thought we'd never return to the original lineup"
Last week, THE CROWN revealed that former vocalist Johan Lindstrand would be re-joining the band after a seven year absence. Today Johan spoke exclusively to The Gauntlet regarding the past, present and what future lies ahead for fans and The Crown.
"I have been playing with my band One Man Army and the Undead Quartet for a few years now. The band actually asked me in 2008 to join The Crown again, but I was occupied at the time with my other band. I was afraid what would happen and that it might have been my only chance at playing in The Crown again. Now it is three years later and the guys asked me once again. I was extremely happy about it. It was great that Jonas was okay with it too. It is now the five of us that the rest of the world knows as The Crown. It can't go wrong."
In the seven years since his departure, The Crown released "Doomsday King" on Century Media Records which was well received by both fans and critics. "It is a great album for sure. I only listened to it two times but it has some really strong songs on it. Jonas did some great things in his short time with the band. I was thinking after this album that The Crown would never have it's original five again. I thought we'd never return to the original The Crown. But now the wait is over. Now we are back together again and it is totally amazing. We will definitely create some magic together. It actually wasn't hard watching them move on without me. I have seen the band twice with a different singer. The first was in 2001, then again in 2010. Both of those shows were great to watch as I was a fan. I got to see the band from the outside. It is a good thing to see your band from a different perspective. I got to see how they really played from a distance."
The band is in no hurry to get out on the road or into the studio either. "We will first be doing some shows in our home town. We will start rehearsing next week. The band has six songs already written but their are no lyrics yet. Marko Tervonen has an idea for the songs. There is some writing for me to do. I think we are going to record this in Marko's home studio. Marko will get a really good sound for us. We are thinking of releasing the album early next Summer before we play some festival shows. I don't know about touring yet as we all just want to take it one day at a time and just see what happens.I was actually listening to a couple of the old The Crown albums this past weekend as I was driving. I was singing to the songs and it was really cool. I haven't heard them in a long time. I am ready to be back. I am really looking forward to playing "At The End" from 'Hell Is Here' live."
