Rob Halford comments to The Gauntlet on the Halford tour
In a interview today with the Metal God himself, Rob Halford commented on the his current tour with HALFORD. "I am grateful to Ozzy for our recent tour of the midwest as we played to a lot of people. Some were Ozzy fans, some were [Judas] Priest fans, and some were Halford fans. We just went up and tried to do our best in the 50 minutes we had to win them over and give them the best show we could. We are now doing a few solo shows including three in California. I didn't even think I was going to go out this year with the HALFORD band until the opportunities arose. I knew I had a well earned break from Priest which has pretty much been going on nonstop for nearly eight years. I quickly put the Halford band back out on the road."
In regards to having new material for the tour, Rob stated "I always like to have new material to play as I think it makes you more relevant and feel like you are in the game. This has been a bonus year for me in many ways as I have all this new music." Halford recently released "Halford IV: Made of Metal" in September.
Halford played the Los Angeles area in August as part of Ozzfest, but now that Halford is headlining along with support acts Warbringer and Philm (featuring Dave Lombardo of Slayer), the band will be able to give fans more of what they want. "We are at our best on this tour. You know when a band goes out on the road, it takes a number of shows under your belt to get everything running smoothly. You can rehearse and rehearse and rehearse in a rental facility, but the true test of fire is when you play in front of people. At Ozzfest, we were still finding our feet. As we progressed through the arena tour, something clicked and got really solid. It is exciting for fans that will get to see us at these current dates as the band is just roaring right now."
Be sure to catch Halford, Philm, and Warbringer at the Los Angeles Wiltern on Friday December 17. Tickets are available at this location.
