Roadrunner Records to digitally release new Grand Magus album
Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce the digital release of Hammer of the North, the new album from Swedish power trio Grand Magus, which continues the long-held tradition of the best and brightest metal bands calling Roadrunner home. The album will be released via digital platforms on January 25.
RoadrunnerRecords.com has just launched an exclusive download of “I, Jury”, which will be available for the next 48 hours, so please take a listen to and enjoy this thunderous, riff-roaring song.
Since their formation in 2001, Grand Magus have amassed a cult following, thanks to their ability to dole out beefy riffs! Their brand of doomy, jam metal is potent enough to put hair on your chest and to elevate your state of consciousness to a higher level.
Grand Magus are currently touring Europe with Motorhead and recently finished a trek with Arch Enemy. Additionally, these young turks have racked up a boatload of European accolades and have played lots of big name fests, so it’s time for Grand Magus to catch on in the US. The band was the first artist to be awarded the “Album of the Month” feature in a quartet of prestigious German magazines: Rock Hard, Metal Hammer, Heavy Magazine and Legacy.
Grand Magus – vocalist/guitarist JB, bassist Fox and drummer Seb– signed to Roadrunner internationally last year. During their 10-year history, the band has released two demos, one split-EP and four full-length albums. Drawing hefty influences from the hand-on-heart grandeur of the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) style and the inspirational mythology of their forbearers, Grand Magus are steeped in pre-Christian tales of triumph, vengeance, betrayal, wisdom and death.
In a statement, the band said, "We are thrilled with working with Roadrunner Records. We regard this both as a great sign of recognition and most importantly a chance for us to really push ourselves and the music to the point of perfection. We are confident that the team of us and Roadrunner will be something really special."
