Megadeth cancels show two days after confirming it
Two days ago (April 29) Dave Mustaine posted the following message to fans in Ecuador (read entire message):
Which brings me to something very important, and that is loving our fans, and the idiots who spread rumors about us canceling shows. On this tour we are going to several new countries, and some that we have only played once before. And never do we cancel a show once we are in the country, and in this case South America.
You see, there has been a rumor floating around that we are not coming to Quito, Ecuador, and that is the biggest mountain of horse manure I have ever heard. It must have been started by someone who is very, very afraid of Megs!
Then today, a mere two days later, the following cancellation was posted on megadeth.com:
"Due to logistical problems with getting Megadeth's gear into Ecuador, the band has been forced to postpone the scheduled show on Tuesday, May 4 in Quito. Megadeth is greatly saddened that they won't be able to perform to the fans of Ecuador at this time but they will make this show up on the next trip to South America. Dave Mustaine will be making a statement after the tour. Ticket holders can get a refund at place of purchase."
This is complete bullshit and I am calling shenanigans on Dave Mustaine! His statement on April 29 denying rumors was a complete fabrication and fans should be outraged. And the reason? It wasn't due to logistics, unless low ticket sales are a 'logistical problem'. Dave Mustaine's behavior is the same as Kenneth Lays (Enron CEO) when he got up at a shareholders meeting and encouraged people to keep buying stock in the company as he was selling. Sure fans will get their money back, but if the show gets rescheduled, they will lose out on ticketing fees and other costs. The Gauntlet has already been contacted by several fans that had booked flights and hotels for the show and cannot get money refunded on these.
