Top 10 "Top 10 lists"

The Gauntlet has been making top 10 lists since Marilyn Manson orchestrated the Columbine massacre in 1999. We get a lot of requests for the URL's to certain top 10 lists so I decided to make a list of my favorite top 10 lists.

10. Top 10 usage of cowbell in a metal song

This was one of those lists I got up to about 15 songs and couldn't find anymore unless I went into glam metal. When making top 10's I generally try to have atleast 30 subjects to pick from. I remember slaving over this one for weeks listening to every song I could think of in my head and if I thought it had cowbell, I'd find the CD and listen. This top 10 sounded like a good idea on paper but was a nightmare to compile.

9. Top 10 most absurd rider requests

After researching this one, I have come to the conclusion that nearly every band has some absurd rider request. To update the list, I found out that Dark Funeral no longer requests pink cupcakes. They now want pentagram toilet paper. As of today, they still haven't received any.

8. Top 10 bands with 4 syllable single word names

One of those lists where I was just making up a subject. I might have been drinking and playing some bar game at the time.

7. Top 10 slut drummers

Not talking about Tommy Lee here. Drummers are notorious for being flakes and not sticking with a band. The drummer is the guy bands seem to have a hard time holding on to. So I decided to make a list to honor the drummer that has played in the most bands.

Might be my favorite top 10 list. I had fun with this one.

5. Top 10 best jumps from a drum riser

Another obscure top 10. I tried to do this as a top 10 toe jumps where the singer jumps off the riser and does the splits mid-air but I think I only found 2 guys who could do this, David Lee Roth (the inventor of the toe jump) and Michael Starr from Steel Panther. This was one of those lists I did days and days of research on.

2. Top 10 band names taken from JRR Tolkien characters

We went full geek on this one. I got a lot of emails regarding this but I stand by the list. To qualify, the bands name had to be derived from a character appearing in a Tolkien book, not a place. I was also honored to learn that Tolkiens Estate approved of this list and added it to their archives.

1. Top 25 Most Disgusting Album Covers

I tackled this one thinking Cannibal Corpse would be #1. As it turns out, we expanded the list to top 25 and Cannibal Corpse still didn't make the cut. I was shocked by some of the albums. This is the most popular Top 10 list we have published and the most requested.
