Job For A Cowboy lands at No 42 on Billboard
Award-winning Glendale, AZ heavy music powerhouse JOB FOR A COWBOY lands at #42 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart this week with its sophomore album, Ruination. The record dropped on July 7 in North American via Metal Blade Records and shifted nearly 11,000 units in just its first week of release.
Additionally, Ruination debuted at #4 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums Chart and at #7 on Billboard's Hard Music Albums Chart. The album also debuted at #50 on Canada's Nielsen SoundScan Charts, #5 on its Independent Albums Chart and at #8 on the Canadian Hard Music Albums Chart. The follow up to JOB FOR A COWBOY's 2007 debut, Genesis (the highest charting metal debut to crack Billboard's Top 200 since Slipknot's 1999 self-titled album), Ruination has met to scads of critical acclaim in the weeks leading up to its release. The album's first week charting position represents one of the highest Billboard debuts ever for a band representing the "death metal" subgenre.
JOB FOR A COWBOY's Ruination is a concentrated hotbed of astounding dexterity, scorching attack, sleek arrangement and thundering musical muscle. Infectious riffs, keen dynamics and the assertive vocals of rising star front man Jonny Davy combine to produce an album that is at once powerful, expressive, confident and commanding. The album features ten tracks of state-of-the-art heavy metal music. The New York Times referred to JOB FOR A COWBOY's sound as "brute-force", a commendatory claim that Ruination unquestionably validates.
JOB FOR A COWBOY is currently touring North America with Slayer as part of the 2009 "ROCKSTAR Energy Mayhem Festival". The 27-date North American march is slated to run through August 15 in Dallas, TX. In the two years since the release of the band's full length debut, JOB FOR A COWBOY (JFAC) has progressed from "the band with the different name" to one of the leading lights for heavy music in the 21st century. The quintet has toured the world to out-and-out acclaim, highlighted by main stage appearances at distinguished music jubilees such as the UK's Download Festival and Germany's Wacken Open Air.
JOB FOR A COWBOY features front man Jonny Davy, guitarists Bobby Thompson and Al Glassman, bassist Brent Riggs and drummer Jon "The Charn" Rice.
