Megadeth drummer issues update

Megadeth (2008) MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has issued the following update:

"Yes yes, I know it has been a while, but here I am, blogging once again. In just a bit more than 1 week now, the Canadian Carnage show's in Western Canada will commence, and man I am excited about that!!!! Vancouver is one of my favourite cities on earth, which makes it even more awesome for me. I know this is going to go by in the blink of an eye, so I am going to try to have as much fun as I can, and enjoy it for what it is - A bunch of great bands bringing some serious Heavy Metal to entertain you. To those of you who will attend these shows, I hope you will have as much fun as I will!!!!!

As well, I have a drum clinic at Seminole Music and Sound in Seminole, Florida on July 9th at 7PM, which I am also very much looking forward to. If you reside anywhere near this location, drop by and say hello. I am going to try to make this a bit more of a fun thing, instead of talking about proper stick control and rudiments for 2 1/2 hours. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it's just not my thing, humans. Anyway, I hope to see you there."

Canadian Carnage, will also feature SLAYER, MACHINE HEAD and SUICIDE SILENCE, and will see Megadeth and Slayer each closing two of the four shows.

Dates are as follows:

June
24 - GM Place - Vancouver, BC
26 - Rexall - Edmonton, AB
27 - Saddledome - Calgary, AB
29 - MTS Centre - Winnipeg, MB

A six-minute video featuring Megadeth producer Andy Sneap (NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY) talking about the band's new track 'Headcrusher' at his Backstage Recording Studio in Derbyshire, UK can be viewed below. The video was previously available only to MegaFanClub members and features excerpts from the song.

Says Sneap: "It's certainly old school Megadeth - that's what I like."

Says leader Dave Mustaine in an earlier online posting from today: "I am so stoked to see all of the positive comments about 'Headcrusher', since this was the last song that we wrote on the record. You see Shawn had this song and there were parts that I took out and wrote the rest of the song to, and there you have it. The concept is about the torture device, the most horrific allegedly, and the image is of a person subject to the nauseating results of a 'head crushing.' I noticed a few squeamish schoolgirls have commented on the artwork, and I can only shake my head and be grateful that we appeal to all kinds."

Megadeth's forthcoming album is set to be released in September. The follow-up to 2007's United Abominations will feature 12 songs including 'Headcrusher', 'Nothing Left To Lose', 'Bite The Hand That Feeds', '1'320', 'How The Story Ends', 'This Day We Fight' and 'Endgame'.
