Swallow the Sun check in

Swallow The Sun Finnish metallers SWALLOW THE SUN check in with the following update:

"So, it is time to reveal some things about the new album!

We are entering Fascination Street studios in Orebro, Sweden, on June 15th to record our fifth album which will be called New Moon. The album will be produced and mixed by Jens Bogren, who has worked with such names as KATATONIA, OPETH, PARADISE LOST and AMON AMARTH, just to name a few.

And as we announced earlier, Kai Hahto (WINTERSUN, ex-ROTTEN SOUND) will be playing drums on the album. We are thrilled and looking forward to working with such professionals.

Here is the initial tracklisting for the album (although we reserve the right to change it if we feel like it): 'These Woods Breathe Evil', 'Falling World', 'Sleepless Swans', 'And Heavens Cried Blood', 'New Moon', 'Lights On The Lake (Horror Pt. III)', 'Servant Of Sorrow', 'Weight Of The Dead'.

The album will be released in early November 2009 around the world; we'll let you know the exact dates as soon as possible."

As previously reported, Swallow The Sun will have their first two albums released through Spinefarm Records UK on July 27th.

Titled The Morning Never Came (originally released in 2003) and Ghosts Of Loss (2005), these atmospheric outings see the Finnish sextet – and in particular guitarist/main songwriter Juha Raivio – developing the mix of crushingly heavy doom and aching melody that was to identify their subsequent releases, with 2008's Plague Of Butterflies album being the most recent.

Swallow The Sun recently amicably parted ways with drummer Pasi Pasanen, who has been replaced by Kai Hahto (WINTERSUN, ex-ROTTEN SOUND). Hahto will be playing on the upcoming album as well as touring with the band during the summer. He previously filled in for Pasanen during the band's 2007 North American tour.

The new studio album is scheduled for November of this year. Further updates to follow.
