Kylesa wraps up tour with mastodon
The Savannah, Ga.-based psychedelic metal quintet KYLESA, whose new
album "Static Tensions" has been praised by Decibel as "their best
album yet" and by Pitchfork as "one of the best albums of 2009,"
wrapped up a six-week tour with fellow Georgians Mastodon on Friday
night (May 15) with a sold-out show in Atlanta.
Although KYLESA has been touring steadily throughout the year, including
regional dates with Amebix and Skeletonwitch and a seven-show Japanese
tour in February, the Mastodon tour marked the first full North
American tour in support of "Static Tensions." The band will continue
touring through month's end, including two shows in the Northeast
alongside Coheed and Cambria. Newly confirmed dates include the
following:
5/20 Oasis - James Island, SC
5/21 Outback Lodge - Charlottesville, VA
5/22 Belvedere's - Pittsburgh, PA
5/23 Fuel Rocket Club - Hanover, NH
5/24 Cherry St. Station - Wallingford, CT
5/25 Mohawk Place - Buffalo, NY
5/26 Casbah - Hamilton, ON
5/27 Maxwell's - Hoboken, NJ
5/28 House of Blues - Atlantic City, NJ w/ Coheed and Cambria
5/29 Starland Ballroom - Sayreville, NJ w/ Coheed and Cambria
5/30 Cake Shop - New York, NY
Guitarist/vocalist Laura Pleasants checks in with the following update:
"The tour with Mastodon was a killer experience, as the lineup was
really strong and everyone had a great time together. Mastodon and
their crew are fucking awesome people, and seeing them every night was
a real pleasure. We enjoyed playing some of the new material off of
'Static Tensions,' and we look forward to playing more of the record in
the upcoming months. Now we're meeting up with Coheed and Cambria for a
few shows which we're very stoked to be a part of, and we're also
headlining a few shows. Thanks to everyone for your support!"
