Corpus Christi's Jarrod Christman posts tour blog
Corpus Christi guitarist/vocalist, Jarrod Christman, has just posted his first tour blog at The Gauntlet.
Fresh Princes Of Metal '09
First off: the other two bands included on this package are really friggin good. Wretched, also on Victory Records, are exceptionally proficient musicians and they're easy dudes to bro with. From All Within are equally gifted musicians, with a good live show, and a familiar sense of humor that makes touring with them a blast.
Great bunch of dudes all around.
The shows? Ahh, the shows. The first show was our CD release show in Cincinnati, OH. That show well exceeded my expectations with regards to turnout and we had a great time with it. The second was in Birmingham, AL. Given Alabama's proximity to New Orleans and the fact that we were playing on Mardi Gras weekend, there was a really low turnout. But the crowds enthusiasm for metal made it a fun show, regardless of the small size of the crowd.
That was five days ago (Feb. 20th) and we haven't played a show since. Six days into this "tour" and we've played only 2 shows. Great booking!!
(note the sarcasm)
The manager at the venue in Houston where we were supposedly booked Monday had no idea there was a show. A really limp local band was shooting part of their video in the club that night and the place was empty.
Earlier that day we heard from the show in Corpus Christi, TX, that they were cancelling Tuesday's show (day before). Which means that they hadn't done an ounce of promotion for it. We handed them the easiest show they could ever promote; Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, and they dropped the ball. Oh well.
As a further testament to the superb booking and promotion being done by the agent on this "tour", we had a venue change here in Dallas, 48 hours before the show. So who knows what will happen on the rest of this "tour."
But hey... That's touring. Just Get Pumped!
