Former Grip, Inc. vocalist Gus Chambers found dead at age 52
Gus Chambers, former vocalist of Dave Lombardo's thrash metal act, Grip, Inc., was found dead on October 13, 2008 of an apparent suicide, according to the Coventry Telegraph.
Gus, a Coventry, UK, native, also fronted a plethora of punk bands over his lifetime including Squad, 21 Guns, Sons of Damnation, and most recently Mantra Sect. His sudden alleged decision to take his own life is especially baffling, as Mantra Sect was scheduled to play a show tonight.
"I've been very lucky in my career," Gus recently told the Coventry Telegraph. "I have had the privilege of playing in front of thousands of people at festivals like Rock in Rio and the Dynamo Festival in Holland. Nothing though brings back fonder memories than playing in front of maybe 20 or 30 people in The Hand and Heart or the back room of The Swanswell."
So long Gus, our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends affected by this terrible tragedy.
