Too Old for Tampons: Mick Mars
It recently came out that Motley Crue guitarist, Mick Mars, suffers from Ankylosing Spondylitis. This is a disease that has affected his joints and bones. "What it does is it slowly fuses your bones together; Your spine, your ribs. With most people it stops in their 30s, when the disease is still in their lower back. In my case, I have a rare form of the disease that hasn't stopped" stated Mars in a recent interview with Musicradar.
Mick isn't hurting for money anymore and the last few tours, he doesn't seem to be enjoying himself as much. Having seen the Crue recently, he definitely appears to be in pain. There needs to come a point in a musicians life when they hang it up and go out to pasture. I'm not saying he should forever stop playing guitar, but stop playing professionally, at least until you can seek treatment to ease the pain. If fans are going to throw down $75 a ticket, they deserve the best. Motley Crue already has the stage antics of Vince working against them. Going old is unavoidable, going old with dignity is in your hands bud.
