Should there be an age limit for metal?
If you were 30 years old back in 1969 when Black Sabbath first came onto the scene, you are now pushing 70 years old. You will have been a member of AARP for 20 years. It just gets worse if you are still a metal-head. As both the musicians and fans get older, it makes me wonder, should there be an age limit on metal?
Metal is a lot like porn, it is made mainly for guys, scares the fuck out of Christians, and best left to the younger crowd.
Elderly fans aren't the only problem at shows. Many musicians out there are pushing 60+ years of age. A basic rule of thumb should be if you require an oxygen tank on stage or your tour rider lists a doctor to be present, it is too late to walk away gracefully. It is so sad seeing these once metal greats barely able to stand on stage for an entire set. Musicians like Mick Mars and Ozzy Osbourne had better days. I salute Al Jourgensen, the guy went out at the top of his game.
