ACROSS THE POND: ISSUE 2
The Download Festival line-up is certainly heating up. Bands such as THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THROWDOWN and KID ROCK were all added this week. Tickets are on sale now so if you're an American metaller who happens to be in the UK between the 13th-15th of June, get your arses down to this pronto!
LINKIN PARK and JAY-Z have announced a UK leg of the 'Projekt Revolution', playing at the huge Milton Keynes Bowl on June 29th.
NORMA JEAN and GLASSJAW are both hard at work on their respective new albums whilst Welsh superstars FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND are also said to be working on an EP of brand new material.
Make sure you check out a band called SYLOSIS. They are finally gaining some critical recognition after loitering in the underground UK metal scene for a few years, so expect to hear their dark thrash in times to come.
The MEGADEATH tour recently rolled around the UK as Dave Mustaine and co. showed that the veterans are still doing it best. Oh so slightly out of place support JOB FOR A COWBOY didn't go down to well with the oldies apparently…A tour of ridiculously brutal proportions will happen in May, with headliners PARKWAY DRIVE being joined by SUICIDE SILENCE, BURY YOUR DEAD and Welsh kids SHAPED BY FATE. First aiders at the ready!
Word has it that Swedish warriors CHILDREN OF BODOM immensely impressed at their recent one off UK date in London, whilst local lads GALLOWS played a string of consecutive shows at London's 100 Club. Plans are in motion for a HEAVEN AND HELL and JUDAS PRIEST tour later this year, whilst RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, METALLICA, FOO FIGHTERS and GREEN DAY are all heavily rumoured to be announced for the legendary Reading Festival in August.
CHIMAIRA will embark on a massive European tour throughout March and April, as will Phil Anselmo's DOWN, who will be touring the UK in April in support of their latest effort 'Over The Under'. MISERY SIGNALS will take upcoming UK hardcore/experimentalists BURN DOWN ROME (who recently signed to Visible Noise Records) around the UK with them in April. ADEMA have cancelled their planned European tour (does anyone still listen to them anyway?)
AVENGED SEVENFOLD will be the support for the biggest-metal-band-in-the-world IRON MAIDEN on their summer European tour.
Experimental legends ISIS will be touring Europe in April but there's no news of any UK dates yet. And lastly, another UK metal act to check out would be ETERNAL LORD. Their new record will be released very shortly in the US on the Ferret Record Label so make sure you give their chug-fuelled metallica onslaught a listen!
